Senior Accountant in Indiana, PA
Description
Provides support in the Financial Reporting area by assisting in the preparation of internally prepared financial reports and external regulatory filings. Responsibilities also include preparing journal entries and general ledger account reconciliations, as well as maintaining spreadsheets and databases to assist with accounting and financial analysis work.
Essential Job Responsibilities
1. Performs accounting analysis and provides accounting/financial support and technical assistance for the assigned department.
2. Develops, prepares and maintains a variety of accounting and financial reports, statements, transactions, and records in accordance with applicable laws and regulations; and to perform related duties as assigned.
3. Prepares journal entries, reconciliations, spreadsheets, and maintains databases in the performance of accounting and financial analysis work.
4. Analyzes, reconciles, and/or evaluates the accuracy of general ledger
5. Resolves discrepancies as necessary, and/or processing documents for input into automated systems.
6. Develops and prepares financial reports on a regular, monthly, interim, and/or annual basis.
7. Completes special projects and miscellaneous assignments.
8. Assists in compiling information for internal auditors, external auditors or examiners as requested.
9. Assists with tax function, including processing tax payments, maintaining required workpapers and working with third party tax preparers.
Bona Fide Occupational Qualifications
1. A Bachelor's degree in Accounting or related field preferred and a minimum of three (3) to five (5) years of equivalent experience in accounting related positions.
2. Experience with financial operations systems is preferred.
3. Proficiency in the following: knowledge of Microsoft Office software, analytical or mathematical skills, and communications and interpersonal relations are required.
4. Knowledge of and the ability to write in basic SQL to create reports and supporting documentation preferred.
5. May be eligible for Telecommuting.
